Article/Story A 19 year old student was reportedly pulled from the street into a stranger's car and drugged before he was assaulted. <img src="http://www.solobackpacker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/BHU2.jpg" align="left"> A 19 year old student was drugged and raped by five men, according to Indian media. The assault is said to have taken place outside a building at the venerated Banaras Hindu University, in Varanasi in northern India, one of the oldest universities in India. The young man, dubbed ‘Animesh’  by the media to protect his identity, was intercepted while attempting to leave the microbiology department at the university. The man is said to have introduced himself before forcing Animesh into a car where four other men were waiting. Animesh alleges the five men forced him to drink alcohol and insisted he use a ‘drugged substance’, which knocked him out. He then woke up outside another university department, and immediately called the police. A medical examination proved that he’d been raped while unconscious. The student is currently waiting for the police to take action. According to a report from Catch News, police have been slow to react to the crime: taking four days to register the rape charge. Further to that, university staff are said to have tried to convince Animesh to drop the case. Local media have been describing the attack as an ‘unnatural rape’.
