HUMRAHI
This is an organisation for gay and bisexual men based in Delhi.
The group was officially started in February 97, with an object
of becoming a platform for discussing the needs of Delhi's Gay
Community. It's objects include creating awareness about issues
relevant to us and providing a support system to members of our
society. The group works closely with the Naz Foundation,
a premier sexual health NGO.
The
Humrahi
Group meets every Saturday from
7.00 to 8.30 p.m. at D-45 Gulmohar Park,
New Delhi. The meetings
provide a congenial atmosphere to discuss problems relevant to
us like marriage pressures and social/cultural stigma and also
provides a support system for those who need it. It also helps
in networking and meeting like-minded people. Total
confidentiality and respect for privacy is guaranteed and
expected. For gay men looking to meet other gay men, this is a
great way to interact.
The group also runs a telephone counselling service on Mondays
and Thursdays from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. on phone numbers 2685-1970
and 2685-1971 for gay and confused men. Issues relating to
homosexuality, discussed in total anonymity with trained
counsellors in Hindi or English.

SANGINI
Sangini was set up in 1997
under the umbrella of The Naz
Foundation (India) Trust and provides information, counselling, support, help and
advice, through operating a telephone help line service, for lesbians
and women exploring their sexuality. It also welcomes calls from
others affected by this; friends, family, partners etc. and
other organizations seeking advice in this area. In addition,
weekly meetings are organized for women who wish to meet in a
group and discuss lesbian issues, share their experiences and
talk openly about their sexuality in a supportive space.
Sangini help line operates on
Tuesday evenings only, from 6 to 8pm, (all counselors on the
helpline are lesbian or bisexual themselves). The phone numbers
are 011-65676450, 2685 1970 and 2685 1971.
Sangini support meetings are held every Saturday afternoon from
3.00 to 6.00 p.m. and are only open for lesbians, bisexuals and
women exploring their sexual orientation. For more information,

AANCHAL
Aanchal is the first helpline
solely for lesbian and bisexual women in Mumbai, India. The phone
number is (022) 370 4709. It has basically arisen because of the
complete invisibility that lesbians and bisexual women have had
and continue having in the city. Women who are isolated and
fearful of others discovering their sexuality now have a safe
place to interact with like-minded women. Aanchal means the
sheltering folds of a woman's saree. The phone is attended by a
counselor on Saturdays between 3pm and 7pm. Confidentiality is
assured.
